Accessing Minecraft Education Edition in AISD

1. Click the Start button on the taskbar
2. Type Software Center in the Search box.
   
3. Double-click on the Software Center Desktop App when it appears in the search results.
   
4. A new window will open with a list of available software.
   

On the Software Center Applications page, click on Minecraft Education. A new window will open.

Click the Install button in the Application details window. The window updates with the status of the installation.

Launching Minecraft Education on a Laptop/Desktop

2. Type “Minecraft” in the search bar
   
3. Double-Click on Minecraft Education Edition to open
   

Sign in to Microsoft with your AISD email and password

You will then be prompted to sign in to Rapid ID

when Minecraft opens, click Play to begin!

Updating Minecraft Education on a Laptop/Desktop

From Software Center, select “Updates” and install any available updates for Minecraft.

Requesting Minecraft Education for Students using a Chromebook

Minecraft Education is available to all students in AISD. During the school year, access to Minecraft Education on a Chromebook has to be requested by a teacher. Requesting teachers, sign-in to Service Now and under Popular Topics select “Software & Apps”

Select the students that you want to have Minecraft access from the dropdown menu.

You will receive an email notification that Android Apps have been enabled.

Note: It can take up to 24 hours, after the confirmation email, for students to have access to the Google Play store.

Installing Minecraft Education on a Chromebook

When students sign in to the Chromebook after you have made this request, the Google Play Store will pin to the taskbar. This may take a few minutes to install.

Students will click the Google Play Store, then click the three lines to select “My school apps”.

In the next window, students will install the Minecraft Education app. This can take several minutes.

Sign-in to Minecraft Education on a Chromebook

When the student signs in to the Chromebook after the Google Play Store has been enabled by the district, it will install and pin to the taskbar. This may take several minutes to install.

Click the Minecraft App in the Task Bar

Students will click on the Google Play Store and click the three lines to select “My school apps”. In the next window, students will install the Minecraft Education app. This can take several minutes.

Wait for the Minecraft App to load, this can take several minutes.

Sign in to Microsoft with your AISD email.

Enter your Rapid ID username and password.

Click Play to begin the adventure!

Updating Minecraft Education on a Chromebook

Minecraft Troubleshooting Tips (Chromebook)

• If students are sharing Chromebooks and using Minecraft, be aware that most Chromebooks have enough memory to support 2-3 students sharing the device while using Minecraft.
• Powerwash the Chromebook to free up available memory for the Google Play Store and Minecraft to install.
• If the Google Play Store or Minecraft won’t install, power down the Chromebook and power it back on.
• If students receive a message that says “You need a license” or “trial has ended” you will need to enter a help ticket. Client Services will have to assign a Minecraft license to the student.

Resetting A Chromebook to Factory Settings (Powerwash)

A factory reset or “power wash” erases all the information on your Chromebook's hard drive, including all the files in the Downloads folder. This would erase any Minecraft worlds that have been saved to the device.

Minecraft Education App (iPad)

Minecraft Education, as of October 2023, is a pushed iPad app. The app is located in the the Innovation folder.

When students launch the app they will be prompted to sign-in to Microsoft with their AISD email address. Students will then be prompted to sign in to Rapid ID with their AISD username and password.
